Technical architecture: Developed the kiosk's front-facing interface using Electron and React, running on Raspberry Pi devices deployed across school facilities. Created a custom communication layer using bash scripts to handle hardware interactions, including sensor readings, dispensing mechanisms, and inventory tracking. The system operates autonomously with local fallback capabilities when connectivity is interrupted.
Backend & monitoring: Built an admin portal using Laravel, enabling school administrators and facility managers to monitor kiosk status in real time, track product levels, view usage patterns, and generate detailed reports for restocking and maintenance planning. The dashboard provides alerts for low inventory, hardware faults, and connectivity issues, reducing downtime and ensuring continuous availability for students.
Project management: Collaborated closely with hardware partners throughout the development lifecycle, translating mechanical and electrical requirements into software specifications. Conducted on-site testing and iterative refinement based on real-world usage feedback from schools. Delivered comprehensive documentation and training materials for support teams.
The system now serves multiple schools, providing reliable access to menstrual products while giving administrators actionable insights into usage trends and operational efficiency.
